After retiring from her medical practice in Texas, Melanie Campbell-Carter joyfully discovered an aptitude, and a passion, for botanical art. Her formal education includes an MD from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and a residency in Family Medicine at the University of Virginia.
Relocating to Southern California, she is now inspired by extraordinary teaching artists and enthusiastic fellow students. With guidance from eminent instructors including Anne-Marie Evans, Jenny Phillips, and Wendy Hollender, her works have been exhibited at several prominent southern California venues, as well as the 18th Annual International ASBA/HSNY Exhibition in New York (2015), and the Filoli 18th Annual Botanical Art Exhibition in Woodside, CA (2016). She was honored to receive the Roth Award in 2016 for distinction with an emphasis on traditional botanical art presentation, awarded by Cathy Rampley, Head of Education at Filoli, for Duabanga grandiflora.
Melanie is now accepting commissions at her studio in Sierra Madre, California.
